EVE Energy First Sodium-Ion Battery Energy Storage System Officially Connected to the Grid

2025-09-20 | Calvin

Recently, EVE Energy’s first large-capacity sodium-ion battery energy storage system was successfully connected to the grid and commissioned at its Jingmen base, officially entering the stage of commercial operation. This marks a key breakthrough for EVE Energy in the field of new energy storage technologies, injecting fresh momentum into the development of the energy storage industry and the global transition to green energy.

EVE Energy First Sodium-Ion Battery Energy Storage System Officially Connected to the Grid

The sodium-ion battery energy storage system put into operation this time was independently developed and designed by EVE Energy. The battery cells use NF155L sodium-ion batteries, which, based on the unique advantages of the NFPP system, feature high safety, wide operating temperature range, high power capability, long cycle life, and low carbon emissions.

With a cycle life of over 30,000 times, support for 1P or higher power discharge, and reliable performance in a wide temperature range of -40℃ to +60℃, the NF155L is well-suited to meet the full range of current power storage needs. Moreover, thanks to optimized battery chemistry, NF155L offers enhanced safety performance, supporting ultra-long storage at 0% SOC, ensuring reliable safety in storage, transportation, and assembly. In addition, its longer lifespan and environmentally friendly composition lead to more than 42% lower lifecycle carbon emissions compared to lithium-ion batteries.

At the system level, the core advantages are significant:

● Intrinsic Safety + Dual Fire Protection
In extreme thermal runaway conditions, the volume and proportion of flammable gases are significantly reduced, greatly lowering the risk of explosion at the source. At the same time, dual fire suppression designs at both the module and cabinet levels build a comprehensive safety protection system.
● Full-Chain Manufacturing + Flexible Deployment
From battery cell to cabinet, the entire system is designed and manufactured independently, with 100% in-house production of core components. It is fully compatible with mature lithium battery storage system manufacturing processes and enables rapid mass production. The system also supports flexible cabinet combinations, precisely meeting diverse application scenarios.

“The successful grid connection of this 180kWh sodium-ion battery energy storage system is an important step in moving sodium-ion batteries from the laboratory to real-world applications,” said the project leader. “Compared with lithium-ion batteries, sodium-ion batteries hold natural advantages in terms of raw material costs and resource availability, and are expected to be widely used in large-scale and distributed energy storage in the future.”

The successful commissioning of this sodium-ion battery energy storage system represents another major strategic move for EVE Energy after lithium-ion batteries, further enriching its energy storage product portfolio. At present, EVE Energy’s NF155L sodium-ion battery has already gained recognition from multiple energy storage customers, with industrialization efforts progressing at full speed.

Looking ahead, EVE Energy will continue to deepen sodium-ion battery technology R&D and iterative upgrades, accelerating the pace of large-scale and commercial applications. By working hand in hand with industry partners, EVE Energy aims to promote the global energy transition toward clean and low-carbon development, contributing its strength to building a sustainable energy system.
