Munich Auto Show | EVE Energy Launches Omnicell Cylindrical Battery and Battery Passport

2025-09-17 | Calvin

From September 8–12, EVE Energy showcased at the 2025 International Motor Show Germany (IAA MOBILITY 2025), highlighting its breakthroughs in multiple fields including Omnicell cylindrical batteries and systems, low-voltage battery systems, robotics, and low-altitude economy batteries. The company also released its first battery passport, fully demonstrating its leadership in battery R&D, intelligent manufacturing, and sustainable development.

Omnicell Cylindrical Battery: Powering a Greener Future of Mobility

The Omnicell cylindrical battery builds on more than 20 years of EVE Energy’s expertise in cylindrical battery technology. It features standardization, zero expansion, and high strength, while offering efficient production and adaptability across multiple applications. Its full-tab design reduces impedance by 60%, significantly improving power and thermal stability. The directional pressure-relief design triggers within 4 milliseconds and releases more than 50% of heat in under 5 seconds. A new generation of silicon-based anode technology increases energy density by over 15%. At the system level, its structural strength surpasses that of prismatic batteries. The steel shell reaches 550 MPa, while the base combines 1500 MPa hot-formed steel with 3500 MPa aerospace-grade fiberglass. With energy absorption up to 1000J during collisions, it delivers true “intrinsic safety.”

Dr. Liu Jincheng, Chairman of EVE Energy, was invited to test drive BMW’s next-generation iX3 equipped with Omnicell cylindrical batteries. This battery enables the new iX3 to achieve a CLTC range of over 900 km and supports fast charging of more than 400 km in just 10 minutes—setting a new benchmark for range, charging speed, and driving pleasure in next-generation EVs.

Battery Passport: Creating a Digital Identity

In a milestone step toward transparency and credibility in the battery industry chain, EVE Energy launched its first battery passport covering consumer, power, and energy storage batteries. Each battery is given a “digital identity,” enabling full lifecycle traceability—from mining, smelting, material processing, and battery production to usage and recycling.

Backed by internal system integration and real-time data computing, the passport dynamically discloses environmental indicators such as carbon footprint. Through trusted data spaces like Catena-X, it enables secure data sharing among suppliers, OEMs, and recycling companies. The system has already completed over 150,000 data-sharing transactions, with synchronization delays of less than one second and a digitalization rate exceeding 90%.

To date, EVE Energy has achieved a 42% reduction in carbon intensity, increased the use of green electricity to 15%, and recycled thousands of tons of key metals including nickel, cobalt, and lithium.

Expanding Frontiers: Unlocking New Battery Applications

In robotics, EVE Energy displayed multiple cell models such as 18650, 21700, and 26700. The 26700 (G26Q) achieves an energy density of 310 Wh/kg. Its lightweight aluminum casing reduces weight by 5%, while the full-tab structure significantly improves internal resistance and thermal performance. Under the same discharge rate, temperature rise is reduced by 20%, providing strong support for long-duration, high-intensity robotic operations.

In the eVTOL sector, EVE Energy offers end-to-end aviation-grade safety solutions from cells to systems. A key highlight, the 21700 (50PL), delivers an energy density of 270 Wh/kg, supports 15-minute fast charging, and enables 10C high-rate discharge at 30% state-of-charge. With a cycle life of over 1,000 times (80% capacity retention), it meets the dual demands of high safety and high efficiency.

For heavy-duty trucks in cold regions, LMX technology extends the battery’s low-temperature operating window to –20°C. This series achieves an energy density of over 205 Wh/kg and a cycle life exceeding 5,000 cycles, empowering electric heavy trucks with ranges of more than 500 km and overcoming bottlenecks in long-haul electrification.

During the show, representatives from BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Jaguar Land Rover, Rimac, PACCAR, and Bosch visited EVE Energy’s booth for discussions. Mercedes-AMG also invited Dr. Liu Jincheng to experience its AMG GT XX ultra-high-performance EV—which holds 25 world records—demonstrating AMG’s cutting-edge technology.

Looking ahead, EVE Energy will continue to increase investment in innovation, delivering reliable, green, and safe solutions for global customers. Together with partners, the company is committed to driving the energy transition and co-creating a zero-carbon future.
