World's First! CATL's 350Wh/kg Aviation Battery Passes Adjacent Cell Thermal Runaway Verification

Recently, the aviation power battery system developed by CATL for the manned eVTOL successfully passed the verification of non-propagation of thermal runaway from two adjacent cells. This is the world's first aviation power battery system that uses square cells with an energy density as high as 350Wh/kg and has passed this test.

During this test process, different positions such as the middle and corners were selected to simultaneously trigger two adjacent cells, and ultimately succeeded in achieving no thermal propagation. This technological breakthrough and successful verification will provide a safer power guarantee for the development of the low-altitude economy, and is further empirical evidence of CATL's continuous exploration of the safety boundaries of power batteries.

The entire process of production, inspection, and testing of these cells and the battery system was completed under the witnessing of the delegated representative of the Civil Aviation Administration, laying a solid foundation for helping eVTOL aircraft meet civil aviation safety standards.

This aviation battery system is already capable of mass production and will be first applied in AutoFlight's eVTOL manned aircraft.
