Eve Energy Launches Phase I of 60GWh Super Energy Storage Plant and Begins Mass Production of Mr. Big, the 600Ah+ Battery Cell

On December 10th, Eve Energy achieved a significant milestone with the launch of Phase I of its 60GWh Super Energy Storage Plant and the mass production of Mr. Big, the industry's first 600Ah+ large-capacity battery cell. This facility is the largest single energy storage plant in the industry, and Mr. Big represents a groundbreaking advancement in battery technology.

Innovative Technologies Drive the Mass Production of Large-Capacity Battery Cells

In 2022, while the market was still focused on 280Ah battery cells, Eve Energy foresaw the trend toward larger-capacity cells and introduced the 560Ah battery cell. After more than a year of development, the company has now upgraded its technology to produce the 628Ah Mr. Big battery cell, which officially entered mass production in December.

Large-capacity battery cells offer significant advantages, including reduced energy storage system costs, lower integration complexity, improved energy density, and enhanced safety. They also simplify the assembly process by reducing the number of components required at the PACK stage. However, challenges such as thermal management and overall efficiency remain.

To address these challenges, Eve Energy collaborated with Professor Yang Hanxi from Wuhan University, a globally renowned institution, to develop an electrochemical collection model based on electrochemical principles. Inspired by the "low drag" design in automotive engineering, the company optimized the thickness of the collection medium, tab positioning, and terminal shapes and sizes, creating a high-speed pathway for electrons. This innovation significantly reduces internal resistance, minimizing heat generation risks.

In terms of safety and reliability, Eve Energy introduced intelligent battery cell technology. This technology uses high-precision sensors to capture real-time data throughout the battery's lifecycle, similar to how smartwatches monitor health metrics. It can detect gases, temperatures, and other critical parameters, leveraging a robust database to identify anomalies and trigger timely warnings and defensive measures. This intelligent technology sets a new standard for battery safety in the energy storage industry.

To support the mass production of Mr. Big, Eve Energy has built a world-class super energy storage plant. The facility utilizes digital twin technology to create a highly intelligent, automated, and low-carbon production environment.

The 60GWh Super Energy Storage Plant is specifically designed to address the challenges posed by the size of large-capacity batteries. It incorporates over 80 advanced industry technologies and features fully automated production lines. Eve Energy holds 140 intellectual property rights related to core equipment and products.

The plant's production line can produce an average of 1.5 battery cells per second, from raw materials to finished products. It completes four battery packs per minute and produces over 40 containers of 5MWh daily. Located in Jingmen, the plant benefits from the region's industrial environment and geographical advantages, enabling seamless integration with upstream and downstream supply chains. This integration reduces logistics and warehousing costs, improves collaboration efficiency, and fosters industrial agglomeration, ensuring robust delivery capabilities.

In terms of quality management, the plant has achieved a product defect rate at the PPB (Parts Per Billion) level. Eve Energy has established an extreme manufacturing standard system, defining ten core indicators for globally leading battery cell production. The factory maintains rigorous cleanliness standards, from macro-level environmental controls to micro-level 0.5μm dust CLASS 5 management. Additionally, the company has implemented an image database, equipment health models, BP neural networks, knowledge graphs, and AI autonomous tuning to achieve digital closed-loop quality management. Each product is equipped with a "data package" and a "battery passport" for full lifecycle traceability.

As the largest single energy storage plant in the industry, with a single-line capacity exceeding 15GWh, the facility accelerates Eve Energy's global capacity expansion.
