CATL: Launch of the Tianxing II Light Commercial Series Solutions

At the event, CATL officially released the CATL Tianxing II Light Commercial Full-Scenario Customized Series Solutions, along with the industry’s first intelligent power battery management application for light commercial vehicles, the “Battery Manager” Tianxing Edition.

By building a full-scenario ecosystem that integrates hardware + software + services, CATL provides more precise power configurations and intelligent protection for a wide range of scenarios, including urban distribution, intercity logistics, last-mile delivery, and cold-region transportation. In addition, CATL introduced battery swapping solutions compatible with the full range of light commercial vehicle models, propelling the new energy light commercial vehicle industry into a new era defined by intelligent computing empowerment and lean management.

Four Scenario-Based Custom Solutions: Making Every Kilowatt-Hour Count

Amid increasingly complex and diverse transportation scenarios—such as urban distribution, intercity logistics, last-mile delivery, and cold-region operations—standardized new energy solutions are no longer sufficient to meet the refined operational demands of light commercial vehicles. Drawing on deep insights across the entire light commercial vehicle value chain, the CATL Tianxing II series enables customized development to significantly improve vehicle utilization rates and enhance user profitability.

Tianxing II Light Commercial Ultra-Fast Charging Edition

Designed for high-frequency urban distribution scenarios, this version features comprehensive upgrades in cold resistance, power output, and lifespan. At -15°C, the battery can charge from 20% to 80% in just 30 minutes, approximately 30% faster than the previous generation. Discharge power across the full operating range is increased by 30%. At -15°C, the vehicle can maintain 100 km/h highway driving at full load and climb 15° steep slopes under the same conditions.

The cell cycle life has been extended to 8,000 cycles, supporting an additional 80,000 kilometers over the vehicle’s full lifecycle, translating into an estimated RMB 150,000 increase in freight revenue. These upgrades focus on performance and durability, enabling OEMs to seamlessly transition vehicle models while helping frontline users haul more, drive more, and earn more.

Tianxing II Light Commercial Long-Range Edition

This version is designed to significantly enhance the economic efficiency of intercity trunk-line operations. It is equipped with the world’s first super-hybrid chemistry battery cell for light commercial vehicles, combining the advantages of ternary lithium and lithium iron phosphate to achieve an optimal balance of safety, high energy density, and cost efficiency.

The battery offers a single-pack capacity of 253 kWh, the largest in the light commercial vehicle industry. With this battery, vehicles can achieve a real-world range of up to 800 kilometers, easily covering major intercity routes such as Guangzhou–Fuzhou without mid-route charging.

Featuring the highly integrated “Mount Tai PACK” architecture, the battery reduces vehicle weight by over 260 kg at the same capacity, further lowering operating costs. The warranty has been extended to 10 years or 1 million kilometers, with zero capacity degradation in the first year. Self-lithium-replenishing cathode materials and self-healing electrolyte technologies further extend battery life, providing users with greater peace of mind.

Tianxing II Light Commercial High-Temperature Ultra-Fast Charging Edition

Targeting last-mile logistics scenarios, this version addresses highly variable operating rhythms and strong cost sensitivity. The battery supports peak 4C ultra-fast charging, delivering up to 60% charge in just 18 minutes, equivalent to 10 kilometers of range per minute of charging.

Its proprietary high-temperature side-reaction self-inhibition technology simplifies vehicle thermal management design and reduces energy consumption by an additional 5%, saving approximately RMB 500 in annual charging costs. Even at a cell temperature of 45°C, the battery maintains a cycle life of up to 5,000 cycles. The warranty extends up to 8 years or 600,000 kilometers, achieving true “vehicle-battery co-longevity.”

Tianxing II Light Commercial Low-Temperature Edition

This version is the first mass-produced sodium-ion battery in the light commercial vehicle sector, designed to directly address the challenges of extreme cold-region operations. With a capacity of 45 kWh, it is compatible with multiple vehicle types, including mid-sized vans, small vans, and mini trucks—breaking the final barrier to nationwide adoption of new energy commercial vehicles.

At -20°C, the battery retains over 92% usable capacity. Even when fully frozen at -30°C, it supports plug-and-charge functionality. Under the same extreme conditions, and even at a critically low 10% state of charge, the vehicle can still climb 10° slopes at full load, providing robust support for high-altitude and cold-region operations.

Safety remains a non-negotiable baseline for commercial vehicle operations and a core commitment of CATL. In extreme tests—including sawing, drilling, and multi-directional compression—the sodium-ion cells do not ignite or explode and continue to discharge normally even after being cut, ensuring maximum operational safety.

“Battery Manager” Tianxing Edition App: Full Lifecycle Visibility, Insight, and Control

For light commercial vehicle users, batteries are not only the core power source but also critical assets. At the launch event, CATL introduced the industry’s first intelligent power battery management app for light commercial vehicles—the “Battery Manager” Tianxing Edition. The app empowers frontline users to fully utilize their batteries, manage assets effectively, and gain greater certainty and control over their business operations.

First, transparent status monitoring. The app provides full visibility into battery usage across its entire lifecycle, with real-time calculation and visualization of revenue data, enabling profit maximization and refined management.

Second, proactive risk alerts. Through real-time analysis and monitoring of battery operating data, the app proactively identifies potential risks and issues early warnings. With one click, users can connect directly to CATL’s official “Ningjia Service” after-sales platform and navigate to the nearest service center. In the event of a failure, CATL factory engineers can be dispatched on-site within as fast as three hours.

Third, scenario-based charging. The app offers three charging modes—Standard, Health, and Emergency—allowing flexible switching based on operational needs. For example, during peak logistics seasons when power demand surges, users can activate emergency ultra-fast charging with a single click to quickly replenish energy and avoid missing orders.

Battery Swapping Solutions for Light Commercial Vehicles

CATL also unveiled the Tianxing II Light Commercial Battery Swapping Edition. The solution includes three standardized battery packs—20# (42 kWh), 25# (56 kWh), and 35# (81 kWh)—compatible with all light commercial vehicle models for precise demand matching. To date, more than 20 light commercial vehicle models have been launched with battery swapping capabilities, offering logistics drivers greater flexibility in vehicle selection.
