Electric Autonomous Driving Reshapes Mine Transportation! CATL and Easy Control Intelligent Driving Sign Strategic Agreement

On October 24, CATL and Easy Control Intelligent Driving Technology Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “Easy Control Intelligent Driving”) held a strategic cooperation signing ceremony in Ningde, Fujian. The two parties will focus on electric autonomous mining scenarios and carry out deep collaboration across multiple dimensions including capital, technology, market, and ecosystem, jointly promoting the transformation and upgrading of the mining industry toward a greener, smarter, and more efficient future.

Dr. Robin Zeng, Chairman and CEO of CATL, and Lan Shuisheng, Co-founder and CEO of Easy Control Intelligent Driving, attended and witnessed the signing ceremony. Wang Jingzhu, Executive President of CATL’s Heavy Industry Division, and Chen Huiyong, Vice President of Easy Control Intelligent Driving, signed the agreement on behalf of both parties.

This partnership between Easy Control Intelligent Driving and CATL marks that the development of electric autonomous mines has moved beyond the stage of technical verification and is now entering the fast lane of large-scale industrialization. By integrating core capabilities such as power batteries, intelligent manufacturing, autonomous driving, and the “vehicle-road-cloud” integrated system, both parties aim to tackle key challenges in the mining sector—extreme working conditions, high safety requirements, and total cost of ownership (TCO)—while providing scalable and systematic solutions for the industry.

The cooperation will mainly focus on the following areas:

• Joint Battery Development: Based on Easy Control Intelligent Driving’s operational data from over 20 mining sites, both parties will jointly develop next-generation dedicated batteries that can perform reliably under extreme conditions such as high altitude and freezing temperatures.
• Building Benchmark Mines: Leveraging CATL’s resources and its partners’ mining sites, the two sides will create model projects for safe, efficient, and replicable autonomous open-pit mining transportation systems, gradually expanding them to new mining areas.
• Expanding Global Markets: After completing domestic verifications across various mining scenarios, both sides will jointly promote the integrated “New Energy + Autonomous Driving” solutions globally and contribute to setting international standards for green mines.

As of September 2025, more than 2,000 electric autonomous mining trucks jointly operated by the two companies have been deployed, covering a total running distance of over 65 million kilometers. These vehicles have achieved large-scale applications across multiple types of mines, including coal, metal, and limestone. Moving forward, both parties will continue to deepen their collaboration and complement each other’s strengths, jointly ushering in a new era of mining operations driven by green energy and intelligent driving.
