CRRC Zhuzhou Unveils 6.25MWh BESS Featuring HiTHIUM’s 587Ah ∞Cell to Accelerate China’s Clean Energy Transition

CRRC Zhuzhou Electric Locomotive Research Institute Co., Ltd. (CRRC Zhuzhou) has successfully rolled out its 6.25MWh BESS. The system adopts HiTHIUM's self-developed ∞Cell 587Ah high-capacity energy storage battery and will be deployed in high-renewable-penetration scenarios in Northwest China. With a total planned capacity exceeding GWh, the project is set to enhance local renewable energy utilization

In recent years, the demand for large-capacity, long cycle life, and highly safe energy storage products has continued to grow in large-scale power systems. In response, HiTHIUM launched the ∞Cell 587Ah high-capacity energy storage battery at the December 2024. Optimized across energy density, safety, and cycle life, the ∞Cell 587Ah achieves a balanced design in size and performance, offers significant cost advantages, delivers 94.5% energy efficiency, and supports over 10,000 cycles. The product has been in mass production since August 2025.

The ∞Cell 587Ah is derived from HiTHIUM’s ∞Cell 1175Ah, with half the capacity of the 1175Ah, while sharing the same ∞Pack+ and ∞Power system platforms. Together, the two products address diverse market demands across multiple durations and scenarios, forming a differentiated product portfolio that strongly supports the global green energy transition.

The rollout of the 6.X BESS at CRRC Zhuzhou marks another important milestone for the deployment of HiTHIUM’s high-capacity battery. Hithium will continue to collaborate with CRRC teams to advance project delivery and subsequent application validation, exploring further possibilities for large-capacity energy storage systems, and contributing to power system resilience and the green energy transition.
