Breakthroughs in Range and Fast Charging | CALB Shares Innovations at Korea Advanced Battery Conference

Recently, at the 16th Korea Advanced Battery Conference (KABC 2025), Dr. Li Limiao, Technical Director of CALB Advanced Battery Research Institute, delivered a keynote speech. He joined global industry experts and scholars to explore pathways for the coordinated development of high energy density, safety, and fast charging, presenting CALB’s innovative solutions to the world.

Dr. Li emphasized that the core challenge in the power battery industry lies in achieving efficient synergy among high energy density, safety performance, and fast-charging capability. By optimizing heat transfer efficiency at the system level and adopting streamlined, low-impedance designs at the cell level, CALB has effectively realized the integration of “low cost, ultra-fast charging, and high energy density” while ensuring high safety standards.

Based on this technical approach and insights into users’ core pain points—such as inconvenient charging, range anxiety, and safety concerns—CALB became the first in the industry to achieve mass production of 5C-LFP fast-charging batteries in the first quarter of 2025. The company also pioneered a monthly shipment volume exceeding 1 GWh, meeting the demand for “5 minutes of charging, over 300 km of range.”

To further meet the demand for high-quality mobility, CALB continues to rapidly iterate and upgrade its technology and product portfolio. At the conference, Dr. Li also introduced the company’s progress in developing a series of related technologies and products, including the 5C-LFP 2.0 ultra-fast charging product with an energy density of over 200 Wh/kg, the 5C-LMFP fast-charging product, and the 10C+ flash-charging product.
