CATL’s Marine Battery System Obtains Type Approval from RINA

Recently, at the International Maritime Exhibition held in Shanghai, CATL’s independently developed marine battery system successfully received the type approval certificate issued by the Italian classification society RINA. This achievement marks yet another global milestone for CATL, following previous certifications from major international classification societies such as those in France, the United States, and Norway. It further demonstrates the outstanding quality, safety, and reliability of CATL’s products and provides a crucial “passport” for expanding into global markets.

Mr. Simone Manca, President of RINA’s North Asia Region, officially presented the certificate on behalf of the Italian classification society to Ms. Su Yiyi, General Manager of CATL Electric Ship Division, and her team.

So far, CATL has delivered its products to nearly 900 vessels and achieved several industry-first milestones, proving the reliability and versatility of CATL’s marine solutions across different waters and various types of ships:

• The “Yangtze Three Gorges 1,” the world’s largest pure-electric inland cruise ship
• “Yujian 77,” China’s first pure-electric offshore passenger ship certified by the China Classification Society
• “Qinggang Tuo 1,” the nation’s first hybrid tugboat
• “Jining 6006,” the first pure-electric swappable-battery cargo ship on the Beijing–Hangzhou Grand Canal

As the global maritime industry accelerates its green transformation, vessel electrification has become a key trend.
